Find the right chain length

It is not always easy to choose the right length for a necklace. Here we have put together some of our tips that will make your choice a bit easier.

Before choosing a chain

When will you wear the necklace? In day-to-day life, a shorter chain can be more convenient. A short necklace is also an elegant alternative for special occasions. The longer chains are perfect for transforming a simpler outfit info an interesting and dramatic look.

What clothes will you wear? Have the neckline of your clothing in mind. Do you want your necklace to lay on top of your clothing or against the skin?

What kind of pendant will you hang on the chain? Smaller pendants go well with shorter and dainty chains. Larger and heavier jewellery sometimes need a longer and sturdier chain.

Different lengths

38 – 45 cm hangs close to the base of the neck and ends up around the same level as the collarbone. A popular length for daintier necklaces and smaller pendants.

50 – 60 cm ends up in the middle of the chest. This is a nice length if you like to wear your necklace on top of a crewneck shirt or other rounded necklines.

70 – 80 cm is most often seen as long necklaces. This length is perfect for those who like to go for a more relaxed look.

A tip from us is to use a measuring tape or a piece of string to get a clearer picture of where the different lengths end up on you.

When you have found the length you like, it is time to choose the design. Here we list some of the most common types of chains.

Round anchorFaceted anchor
One of the most common and durable chain. Its design is inspired by the anchor chain attached to boats. The faceted anchor chain is designed with pointier edges which creates a beautiful sparkle in the light.
Curb chainBall chain
The curb chain has a flattened shape. It is popular to wear both with pendants and on its own in wider models. The ball chain, also known as bead chain, is designed with multiple round spheres linked together.
Venezia chainSnake chain
This chain is also known as box chain because of its rectangular shape. Has a round, snakelike shape which inspired its name. It is stiffer and not as bendable compared to other chains.
