Jo Siffert, also known to his friends and family as ”Seppi”, was a Swiss racing driver that raced in both Formula One and endurance races. He was also the first brand ambassador for Heuer appointed by Jack Heuer, and as Mr. Heuer said – the most successful one. But Siffert didn´t wear his Heuer Autavia because he was paid to, but because he genuinely liked it, and it’s said that while waiting on the grid before the races, he convinced fellow drivers to buy a watch from him. Jack Heuer would also say that Siffert would constantly try to sell him a Porsche 911 - he was a natural salesman.

He started out in motorcycle racing during the 1950´s and he financed his passion by selling scrap metal and used cars. Siffert joined Formula One in 1962, and took simultaneously part in endurance races, and won the 24 hours of Lemans in 1966 and 1967 with Porsche 907/6L and 908. His life ended with a crash in 1971, on the Brand Hatch circuit in England – the same track where he took his first victory in Formula One in 1968. His funeral in Switzerland was attended by 50.000 people and also a Gulf-Porsche 917, just like the model car that is included with lot 143.
